Capbreton
Destination overview
Capbreton offers a good potential all the year round because of
the presence of the Capbreton Gouf off shore which creates nice and hollows shorebreak waves.
Thanks to the Gouf, there is surf in spite of the big swell north of Capbreton with smaller waves.
Speaking of animation, the evenings take place mostly in Hossegor.
Transport Information
There is a road service by the bus company RDTL between Dax and Bayonne, the two bigger cities for the main railways lines.
You can get closer by rail at Labenne station.
By plane, the nearest airport is Biarritz, a drive of about 35 minutes from Capbreton.
During the summer season (July and August) a shuttle links Capbreton beach to Capbreton city centre.

You will have noticed, all the waves in Capbreton and some of Labenne and Hossegor have very similar charcteristics; they are hollow, they break on the shore and they are often the place to go when there are bigger swells. Why are the citizens of Capbreton receiving such a blessing? This is mostly due to the presence of the Gouf of Capbreton. The Gouf is a submarine depth located a few kilometers from the shore that radically transform the shape and structure of the waves.
