Zone overview

The North of Portugal and its Oceanic climate has a very bad reputation comparing to the South one.

Although this zone is less touristic, the "North" benefits from a vegetion that reminds the one of our South west, thanks to plenty of perturbations.

Travel within the zone

Most of the roads have been reconstruct, so there's nowadays no problem to drive through the "Nord" and more generally in the entire country.
It is easy to hire a car.
Big ways lining the zone are the A28 which go along the coast from Valença to Povoa de Varzim.
The IC1 goes from Lisbon to Porto and the IC5 joints the East.


Strategic locations (cities) in the zone

Porto, second city of the country with its 350000 people.
Braga located in the north of Porto on the inside.
Valença in the South of Vigo.

On the coast: Povoa de Varzim, Viana do Castelo
