Description "Whakapapa"

Whakapapa is on the north-easterly slopes of Mt Ruapehu. It is New Zealands biggest and busiest ski area.

There are 30 groomed trails and a huge variety of off-piste areas that intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders will love. The pinnacles backcountry area is a lift accessed double black diamond area at Whakapapa and is used for the increasingly popular Extreme Competition each September.

I think there's no student fares.

Travel Information "Whakapapa"

Turning off Highway 47 toward Ruapehu brings you to The Grand Chateau. From there the 8km Bruce Road winds to the Top O' the Bruce where there are car parks for 2000 cars. The road is sealed all the way. Whakapapa Shuttles provides daily coach transport to Whakapapa Ski Area from National Park Village and Whakapapa Village. It runs from Chateau Tongariro, Skotel and Tongariro Holiday Park in Whakapapa Village every 20 minutes from 8am. From National Park bookings must be made on 07 892 3716 or 021 563 109.
